About Us
Sandra Mirabelli
Sandra supports pre-service teacher candidates at Brock University in developing their Language Arts programs. She brings over 30 years of experience in the classroom and as a curriculum literacy lead at both the board and provincial level to her cross-curricular approach to teaching and learning. Sandra has authored literacy strategy and skill development lessons in a number of resources for junior and intermediate students and teachers across Canada. She is the 2024 recipient of the Brock University Faculty of Education Award for Excellence in Sessional Teaching.
Lionel Sandner
Lionel’s professional background includes teaching in both the K – 12 and university systems, leading provincial and national curriculum science initiatives and creating print and digital resources. He works with teachers supporting their practice with a focus on inquiry, student engagement and integrating literacy into all subjects. He is also involved in working collaboratively with teachers to create customized resources using social media and digital printing technology. Lionel is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Sandra and Lionel have been presenting and sharing their approach to curriculum integration from their book, Fail-safe Strategies for Science and Literacy (2023) at local, national, and international conferences.
